Ian Verstegen to deliver 2015 Baronius Lecture

Ian Verstegen, Associate Director of Visual Studies, will deliver the 2015 Baronius Lecture before the Pontifical Congregation of the Oratory of St. Philip Neri, at the Oratory Church of St. Boniface, Brooklyn, New York, Thursday November 12th, at 6pm. 

Kevin Connolly wins $75,000 grant for the study of perception

Kevin Connolly has won a $75,000 grant from the Cambridge New Directions in the Study of the Mind Project, for a project called “The Interdisciplinary Study of Perceptual Learning.” Connolly’s project will bring together philosophers, psychologists, and neuroscientists at international workshops to discuss perceptual learning—cases where people (often experts) perceive the world in an improved way due to learning. Connolly will act as the Principal Investigator for the grant, with Adrienne Prettyman (Bryn Mawr College) acting as a Co-Investigator.

Visual Studies Program Receives $1 Million Gift

One of Penn’s most interdisciplinary offerings—the Visual Studies Program in Penn Arts and Sciences—will expand thanks to a generous gift of $1 million over the next decade. New initiatives will include undergraduate research support, internships, course development, and greater connections between current students and alumni.
