New First Year Seminar for Visual Studies students - Philosophy of and with Film (PHIL 0991)
A new first year seminar, Philosophy of and with Film - is being offered in Fall 2026. Although listed under Philosophy, it can be used for the Visual Studies. Taught by Visual Studies director, Prof. Errol Lord, the class requires no philosophy background and provides an introduction to philosophical reflection on the film experience.
Visual Studies students awarded summer grants and internships
This summer two Visual Studies majors were awarded grants or internships. Rosemary Soule ('28) will intern with Visual Studies faculty member Kaitlin Pomerantz on the project, "Monetary Materialities + Ecologies." Sophia Mirabal ('27) will travel to Paris to do field research in different museum environments in preparation for her senior project.

Two Visual Studies students were awarded Phi Beta Kappa honors this year: Joy Lee ('20) and Jean Chapiro ('21). Jean was also announced as a Dean's Scholar. Congratulations!
