TRANSFER + STUDY ABROAD

Transfer Credit

Transfer credit will not be given for VLST 101, 102, 103, or 301. All other transfer credit is granted by the corresponding departments (for ARTH course credit, History of Art; for PSYC, Psychology;etc.). Students should consult with individual departments concerning their rules for granting transfer credit (ARTH, FNAR, PHIL, PSYC, etc.). If granted, ARTH 298 (free elective credit) may only be applied in stage 3 of the major.

Study Abroad Credit

As many as three courses for the major may be completed abroad in Penn programs. They should be chosen in consultation with the Visual Studies Program Director and Sector Advisers in advance of going abroad. The procedure for counting credit toward the Visual Studies Major is the same as for any transfer credit. As above, ARTH 298 may only be applied in stage 3 of the VLST major. Under no circumstances will credit be given for VLST 101, 102, 103, or 301 taken elsewhere. Please consult with individual departments concerning their rules for granting study abroad credit. Some departments may deny study abroad credit.
