MEMORIES: DISTORTED IMAGES OF THE PAST
I am exploring the nature of visual memory distortion from a scientific as well as an artistic perspective. In particular, the way in which a common concept – or visual mental representation, for that matter – is abstracted from distinct episodic memories, is investigated. A computer model that simulates and visually illustrates this phenomenon of memory convergence was designed. The diagrammatic representation of the digitally rendered “snap-shots” generated by the model is juxtaposed to my own artistic investigation into the phenomenon of memory distortion.
