INTERNET ART: REDEFINING "SYSTEM"
A new form of art has emerged that is not only redefining the boundaries of art, but necessitating a revaluation of how these forms will be funded and distributed with the global proliferation of the world-wide-web. Internet Art: Redefining the System investigates the current state of Internet Art and how it fits within the art historical narrative of avant-garde movements of the 1960's and 1970's. It then analyzes the current role of the museum, non-profits, galleries, and private collectors in perpetuating Internet Art. How do these institutions confront the new work when it defies the paradigms that previously defined the art experience and art market in the 20th century? Internet Art is a vector of change, feeding "free culture" in the moment of our information age.
