NOISE

By photographing and recording images and sound from the available cable television signal I pick up at home, I will capture and re-contextualize these images that represent a small (and familiar) part of the everyday bombardment of noise that can be both egregiously disturbing and quietly beautiful. Instead of being a specific focus, television becomes a metonym, of sorts, for the transmission of signals and saturation of images that we encounter daily from our computer screens to our major thoroughfares. I intend to explore the relationship between transmitters and receivers in what has begun to be called the information age, or the digital era by emphasizing noise as a concept related to interruption.
