Returning with Restoration
Strategies for the adaptation of the visual environment during concussion recovery are proposed as the result of multiple cross-disciplinary considerations in the form of a graduated framework for “Returning with Restoration.” Initiated by personal experience and understanding of the concussion recovery process, therapeutic architecture and restorative environments, as well as evidence-based design theories, this guideline includes identified visual components corresponding to realities within the natural symptoms experienced during the post-concussive healing process. The environment a person sees during the concussion recovery process may have significant positive impact on the quality and longevity of the recovery process. The installation is a visual and lighted architectural abstraction of these concepts.
