READING THROUGH COLOR
SEEING COLOR THROUGH COLOR

In this experiment, I wanted to quantify the perception of color mixture. Though artists and philosophers such as Josef Albers, Da Vinci, Boyle, and Descartes studied the complexities behind color mixture, little was known about the psychological aspect of color theory. I wanted to know the actual measurements of the colors presented to the subjects as they exercised the basic theories of color mixture in order to perform the tasks. By testing whether subjects could learn how to discount the color of the cup in order to determine the color of the liquid inside of it, I wanted to know how accurately they could "guess" at the color of an object when only given the color of the other object and the resulting color of them mixed together. From this starting point, I ultimately wanted to test the possibility of learning how to discount the cup color to determine the liquid color.
